FIS is one of the leading CDMO in Europe, located in Italy with three different production sites, with around 2200 employees of which more than 250 within the R&D function. It is a global player facing a strong growth into the development and production of API and advanced intermediates for the custom manufacturing and generics business.
We are seeking an Experienced Process Modeling Engineer for F.I.S.
Main Responsibilities:
Requirements:
-A degree in chemical engineering is required, preferably with 3-5 years of experience in chemical process modeling. A PhD is preferred.
-Experience in at least one of the following simulation areas: Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Discrete Element Method (DEM), or Population Balance Modeling (PBM).
-Strong programming skills (familiarity with VBA, Python is a plus).
-Experience with modeling software (Dynochem, gProms, Aspen+, Ansys Fluent, OpenFoam, MStar).
-Knowledge of spray drying process modeling would be an advantage.
Skills and Soft Skills:
-Analytical and Problem-Solving skills – Able to troubleshoot critical issues using appropriate information and determine causes and possible solutions.
-Teamwork and Communication – Ability to work well in project teams, communicate clearly, and adjust communication style as appropriate for the audience; timely and effective communication with senior management; technical writing skills to support contributions and authorship of technical documents.
-Organizational skills – Good time management and prioritization skills to balance multiple projects and departmental objectives.
Responsabilità:
-The engineer will work within the Calorimetry and Process Engineering team in the R&D division, consisting of chemical engineers and synthetic chemists.
-The team focuses on assessing chemical process hazards and process engineering optimization, collaborating with project lead chemists and industrialization experts.
-The team will also manage the development of Spray Drying processes, which is one of the company's strategic growth areas.
Key Activities:
-Develop scale-down models to study unit operations in an R&D setting, followed by scale-up and technical transfer to pilot/industrial manufacturing, with a particular focus on spray drying.
-Manage the technical transfer of chemical processes to manufacturing sites in collaboration with production and industrialization experts, focusing on spray drying processes.
-Apply chemical engineering fundamentals, applied kinetics, thermodynamics, and transport phenomena.
-Use mathematical models (both statistical and first-principle-based) to enhance process understanding, and to effectively develop, optimize, and troubleshoot processes.
